Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens
Located at the 5 and 134 freeways, the Zoo is home to 1,200 rare and endangered mammals, reptiles and birds. Highlights: Campo Gorilla Reserve, Sea Life Cliffs; Winnick Family Children’s Zoo; Red Ape Rain Forest and Chimps of Mahale Mountains. Picnicking permitted.

The Los Angeles Zoo is celebrating the birth of many endangered animal babies this spring. Come meet Rosie the hippo, Leo the Masai giraffe, Johari the chimpanzee and many others. In addition, our new Rainforest of the Americas exhibit will be completed with a brand-new home for our jaguars. The L.A. Zoo is home to over 1,100 animals, representing 250 species on 113 beautiful acres. In addition, the Zoo’s botanical collection comprises several planted gardens and over 800 different plant species with over 7,400 individual plants.
